We supply raw material for the aluminum industry and we are present in people's lives, from beverage cans, cars, electronic equipment, airplanes and much more.
Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC)
It is a kind of very high purity carbon, consumed in several industrial segments. The calcined petroleum coke produced by Petrocoque is essentially used as an ingredient for the production of carbon anodes, used in the production of aluminum.
Petrocoque's calcined petroleum coke has low levels of metallic and sulfur contaminants, as well as consistent bulk density and low levels of reactivity to Air and CO2.
Our raw material is green petroleum coke (GPC), a product obtained from the processing of liquid fractions in Delayed Coking Units (DCU). It is a material with a high fixed carbon content composed of hydrocarbons and low levels of inorganic compounds. Its appearance is that of a bulk formed by solid black fragments, wherein the term “green” in its name refers to the stage of its production process. (Source: Petrobras)
Petroleum Coke Fines
We also produce a by-product that comes from our process, which is petroleum coke fines, with 99% carbon, low metallic contaminants, used in various industrial segments, from pigment for printer cartridges to brake pads for motor vehicles.
For the production of 1 ton of aluminum, approximately 400 kilos of calcined petroleum coke are needed and that aluminum production is exemplified in the chemical equation below, in which calcined petroleum coke is the carbon used during the reaction?
Chemical reaction of aluminum production:
2Al2O3 + 3C → 4Al + 3CO2
Quality Control
Petrocoque performs a wide range of analytical tests aimed at controlling the quality of its process, from the receipt of raw material to shipping the final product to the customer, as well as tests aimed at environmental issues, more precisely in industrial and sanitary effluents and in the analytical monitoring of process feedwater, boilers, condensate and cogeneration. All within ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) practices.
